A fuel rate increase took effect July 1, 2008 as a result of continual increasing prices in oil, natural gas and coal.
What is the Fuel Charge?
The fuel rate is one component of the entire electric bill. The rate increase applies only to the fuel rate portion of the bill; all other charges remain the same. The fuel rate portion of your bill is a direct pass through; for current status of the JEA Fuel Fund, click here.
Your monthly electric bill for one service location is made up of a few different components such as:

Where does the fuel rate appear in my bill?
That depends on the type of commercial rate your business or service location has active.

Will rates change again in the next 12 months?
We can’t say for certain whether or not there will be another fuel rate adjustment in the next 12 months because adjustments are based on pricing movement of oil, natural gas and coal. If fuel prices cause the JEA fuel budget to vary more than 10% up or down the possibility of another fuel adjustment, up or down, exists.
How can I reduce my energy bills?
Conduct an energy audit of your facility (s). JEA’s on-line Energy Analyzer can help guide you through an energy audit and build a plan to increase energy efficiency.
