Irrigation Tips for Conservation and Savings
Did you know an estimated 30% of the water JEA provides our customers is used outdoors, primarily for irrigation? Up to 50% of that water is wasted because of evaporation, runoff and more. Making some of the simple changes below and following
your watering days, can help conserve precious resources and help you lower your water bill.

Irrigation Tips
- Invest in a WaterSense labeled irrigation controller to remotely manage your irrigation system with ease.
- Ensure your rain or moisture sensor is working properly.
- Inspect sprinkler heads and make sure to aim them toward your landscape and not the sidewalk.
- Fix or replace any broken sprinkler heads. They can each waste up to 25,000 gallons of water in six months.
- Direct spray to your landscape, not your sidewalk.
- Water only when needed, and only up to twice per week during your assigned watering days.
- Don’t water when it’s windy.

Daylight Saving Time: Second Sunday in March until first Sunday in November
- Odd numbered/No address: Wednesday & Saturday
- Even numbered address: Thursday & Sunday
- Non-residential Property: Tuesday & Friday
Eastern Standard Time: First Sunday in November until the second Sunday in March
- Odd numbered/No address: Saturday
- Even numbered address: Sunday
- Non-residential Property: Tuesday
Important Notice
Beginning April 7, 2025, most Nocatee customers will follow a new Reclaimed Water Conservation Schedule, including new watering days and days when reclaimed water will not be available. Customers not included in the schedule should continue to observe the below watering days. Learn more

Fertilizer Runoff
The City of Jacksonville regulates the amount of fertilizer runoff allowed into the St. Johns River. Do not apply fertilizer during flood or storm watches and do not blow lawn clippings into streets, ditches or drains.
