Traffic Alert for Eastbound Atlantic Boulevard
2013-05-17
Jacksonville, FL - A contractor (JB Coxwell Contracting, Inc.) working for JEA will be required to close the two eastbound lanes of traffic and a turn lane on Atlantic Boulevard, just west of Southside Boulevard in the Regency area. This paving work is tentatively scheduled to start on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 4:30 a.m. and will be completed by 5 p.m. the same day.
Commuters will be detoured from Atlantic Boulevard to Corporate Square Boulevard, continuing to Bradley Road and Southside Boulevard, then back to Atlantic Boulevard. The Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office (JSO) will be present to assist with traffic control on Bradley Road and Southside Boulevard. Electronic message boards have been placed notifying commuters of this closure.
JEA will also be required to close the westbound traffic lanes (one lane at a time) on Atlantic Boulevard at Southside Boulevard on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion in this area during these lane closures.
This work is part of JEA’s Total Water Management Plan (TWMP) project, which involves building a pipeline to transfer water from the west side of the St. Johns River to the east side of the river through the Arlington area, ending near Bradley Road and Cortez Road.
