JEA Receives National Achievement Award

Jacksonville, FL - JEA received an American Public Power Association E.F. Scattergood System Achievement Award at the association’s national conference in Phoenix, Arizona. This award honors APPA member systems that have enhanced the prestige of public power utilities through sustained achievement and customer service.

JEA has made it a priority to find solutions that benefit both customers and the larger community. Since 2008, JEA has reduced sustained outages by 57 percent and created communications plans to keep customers informed during outages. JEA has reduced the number of customers experiencing more than five outages a year by 38 percent over the past two years.

JEA awarded more than $850,000 in rebates to local businesses that invested in energy efficiency improvements. Despite increases in the cost of doing business and decreases in electric usage, JEA’s annual spending has remained stable for four years. The utility was also recently recognized by J.D. Power for ranking “Highest Customer Satisfaction With Business Electric Service in the South among Midsize Utilities.”

JEA received the highest numerical score among 13 midsize utilities in the South in the J.D. Power 2016 Electric Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study, based on 21,852 responses, and measuring the experiences and perceptions of business customers surveyed March and November 2015.
