JEA Launches Fleet Vehicle Electrification Program

JACKSONVILLE – To help further reduce tailpipe emissions in Northeast Florida, JEA has launched a fleet vehicle electrification program aimed at supporting commercial customers transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs).

The JEA Fleet Electrification Program, in collaboration with its implementation contractor, Resource Innovations, supports commercial customers that have interest in electrifying. The program is open to fleets of all sizes.

The new program gives JEA and its commercial customers the necessary tools and engineering advice to help develop a comprehensive fleet conversion plan. Program service offerings include a free total cost of ownership calculator tool with direct access to a fleet electrification expert. JEA’s goal is to help customers create an actionable fleet conversion plan that may be implemented over time. Collaboration between the customer and JEA on the plan results in clear expectations of costs, utility infrastructure availability, and timing. And, because customers may need help implementing the conversion plans, additional engineering support is available.

The JEA Fleet Electrification Program serves multiple purposes. JEA will provide the businesses with the consultative engineering advice they need, as well as the utility infrastructure guidance that is necessary to determine project costs and timelines. JEA will capture future load growth and logistics information that is essential for the utility to accurately plan and build necessary electric grid improvements. Fleets with on-road vehicles, such as transit vans, school buses, pick-ups, passenger vehicles and more, gain access to expertise and resources, ensuring efficient infrastructure deployment. This collaborative approach facilitates timely implementation, enabling fleets to swiftly realize the benefits of EV adoption.

As a testament to its commitment, JEA's own fleet is leading by example and will be the first to finalize a fleet conversion plan through the new program.

Commercial customers, including fleets, are eligible for rebates from JEA when they install EV charging equipment. Participants in the Fleet Electrification Program may also qualify for make-ready incentives from JEA.
