JEA System Operations Center Communications Upgrade

JEA is working on a project to replace and upgrade the existing communications tower located within the JEA property at 7695 Ramona Boulevard West.

This tower serves as a critical system allowing for communication between our system operations control centers and our JEA electric, water, and sewer infrastructure. 

This tower will provide improved wireless network connectivity to the First Coast Radio System which serves JEA, Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department, and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Once completed, this work will provide upgraded communications and critical redundancies for our first responders and JEA.

Work will primarily occur within City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements, and on JEA property. 

Construction will involve drilling holes and pouring concrete for the new tower foundation and erecting the new tower structure. The crews will pour the concrete base continuously over several 12-hour periods. Evening work may be required so that the concrete can be continuously poured. Once the new tower construction has been installed, tested, and cleared for use, crews will then remove and dispose of the old communication tower. 

Residents and businesses may notice increased vehicular traffic through the neighborhood to the facility and increased noise associated with this construction. We appreciate your patience and apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this work. 

This work will not affect your normal JEA electric, water and/or sewer service.
