JEA demonstrates environmental leadership by promoting conservation and pollution prevention programs while undertaking specific initiatives that exceed the requirements of targeted environmental laws and regulations.

It is our corporate responsibility to protect and sustain the natural resources of the communities we serve. It is a responsibility we accept not only as JEA team members, but also as residents of this community we all cherish and serve.   

Sustainability

Sustainability means that we will continue to promote water conservation and expand the use of reclaimed water to protect and preserve our Floridan aquifer and related natural systems. It means that we will continue investing in upgrading our wastewater treatment facilities to improve the health of our St. Johns River. It means that we will continue to promote energy conservation and demand side management initiatives to reduce air emissions, including greenhouse gases, from electric generating facilities. It means JEA will continue to evaluate opportunities to expand our renewable energy program, by utilizing energy resources including solar, photovoltaic, biomass, landfill gas and wind.

As a not-for-profit community utility, JEA is obligated to meet the electric, water and sewer demands of our customers. We are also charged to act in an environmentally responsible manner to ensure the integrity of our resources for future generations.

To meet these dual commitments, we are working to provide services according to a policy of sustainability and to educate our customers to assist us in this effort. JEA and our customers are partners working together to benefit our community today and in the coming tomorrows.
