Litigation Shade Meeting

Pursuant to Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes, and as requested by JEA’s Chief Legal Counsel, a litigation shade meeting of the Board of Directors is hereby noticed to consider settlement negotiations and strategy related to litigation expenditures as to the following cases:

• City of Jacksonville and JEA v. Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, Civil Action File No. 1-19-CV-3231-MHC (United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division)
• Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia v. JEA, Case No. 1:18-cv-4295 (United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit)

The meeting will be conducted using WebEx communications technology on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at approximately 11:00 AM. This meeting is on the regularly scheduled JEA Board agenda and all participants that are not listed on this notice will be placed in a virtual lobby during the closed attorney-client portion of the meeting which is expected to last approximately sixty (60) minutes. Upon the conclusion of the shade meeting, all participants that remained in the virtual lobby will be allowed back into the meeting and the JEA Board meeting will continue through the remaining portions of the agenda in an open meeting.

Following the commencement of an open meeting and at the appropriate time, the governing body will move into a closed attorney-client session pursuant to Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes, and only the following listed persons will be entitled to attend this session:

Following the conclusion of the closed attorney-client session, the JEA Board of Directors will return to the open public meeting at which time public business will be concluded and the meeting adjourned.
