Wildwood Road Water Improvement Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2016-08-31
Roads Affected
Project Objective
JEA crews will be replacing 1440 feet of the existing 6-inch water main on Wildwood Road, Carlotta Road South/West from Townsend Boulevard to Wildwood Road and Wildwood Court. When completed, this project will increase water pressure and provide improved system reliability. Crews will also install 3 new fire hydrants to improve fire protection in the area.
Construction Method
The contractor will primarily install the new water main with a technique called directional drilling. Directional drilling requires very little excavation, reduces construction duration, and is less disruptive to the surrounding community. Once drilling operations are underway, it may be necessary for the contractor to work extended hours until the drill is complete.
Construction Conditions
Construction will be done in the City’s rights of way and easements. There will be times when your road will have limited access while the water main is being installed.
Water Outages
Some customers will experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Residents may also experience a brief (10 to 15 minutes) outage while crews transfer your home from the old water service to the new water service.
Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin once the water lines are installed and have been tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
