JEA Responding to Customers Due to Hurricane Idalia

2023-08-30

JACKSONVILLE -- JEA leadership has been closely monitoring impacts after Hurricane Idalia made landfall about 7:45 a.m. near Keaton Beach, Fla.

JEA electric crews are deploying to respond to outages in the area. JEA crews are working to restore outages as they occur and will monitor wind speeds to ensure their safety.

Out-of-state mutual aid crews arrived last night and more are expected today to assist JEA crews with power restoration. If crews are not needed in Jacksonville, they will be deployed where help is needed most.

“We are grateful for our public power partners who are here to help us serve our customers and respond to the storm’s aftermath,” said JEA Managing Director & CEO Jay Stowe.

Beginning at 6 a.m. today, Aug. 30, JEA declared a System Emergency for its electric, water and support operations.

JEA encourages all residential and commercial customers to visit jea.com/outage or call (904) 665-6000 to report outages. Customers also can text “OUT” to MyJEA (69532) to report their outage.

If you are currently without power and have sustained damage to your property or its electrical system, you may need to have an electrician repair the damage before power can be fully restored. Visit jea.com/weatherhead for more information on this.

If your home sustained flood damage, please contact FEMA for information on restoration assistance at www.fema.gov.

Customers should visit jea.com/storm and JEA’s Facebook and X/Twitter pages for the latest updates on Hurricane Idalia.
