Project Objective
JEA contractor crews (JB Coxwell) are continuing work to extend two, 20-inch chilled water mains along A. Philip Randolph Boulevard at Bay Street, south of the Hart Bridge Expressway.
Chilled water systems efficiently supply chilled water to commercial buildings from a central plant using underground supply and return distribution pipes. The chilled water is then utilized by each building to provide air conditioning through their on-site air-handling units.
Construction Conditions
For the safety of our crews and the public, the contractor will be required to temporarily close and detour traffic on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard at the intersection of E. Bay Street while the chilled water main is being installed. Vehicular traffic traveling east on Bay Street will be able to turn left on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard (see work area and detour map below).
Due to the anticipated increase in traffic near the stadium, this work is being completed prior to the start of the Jaguars’ football season.
The project work area will remain closed (24/7) until completion. Please observe all construction signs, detours and general directions provided by the crews working on-site. We apologize for any inconvenience this construction work may cause.
This construction project will not affect your normal water, sewer, or electric service.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins soon after the project has been completed. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
