New Business Customers

If you are new to JEA, we’ll need just a few things to activate your utility services.  We will need the address where you’d like services established and the start date, along with the following information to properly identify you as a business account holder: 

  • Business Name
  • Active Business Registration and the state where it’s registered
  • Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) as provided on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) form(s) SS4 or W9

To start business services in the name of a person, we’ll need the:

  • Person’s Name
  • Social Security Number (see below for other forms of identification)
  • Driver License Number or State Identification Card Number

Once you have collected your items, call us at (904) 665-6250 or email commercialservices@jea.com to start service.

 

If you're a residential customer, you can start your utility services online.

If you do not provide your Social Security number, you will need to bring two of the following forms of government-issued photo identification to our Customer Care Center in downtown Jacksonville and we'll help you get started.

  • U.S. State-Issued Driver License
  • Official State Identification
  • U.S. Government/Military ID
  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Alien Identification (Green Card)
  • Foreign Passport with I-94 Debarkation Form
  • Foreign Passport with I-551 Temporary U.S. Immigration Stamp
  • B-1/B-2 Visa and Border Crossing Card

The identification must be valid, not expired, and the photo must match the presenter.

Same-day service requests must be made by calling (904) 665-6250.

We can start, stop and transfer service fairly quickly if JEA has provided services to the premises previously. If we haven’t, it may take a little longer to get things started.

  • When requested prior to the start date or by 3 p.m. the same day, services will start by close of business on the day requested.
  • When requested on or after 3:01 p.m. on the start date, services will begin on the next business day, Monday - Friday.
