Project Objective

A contractor working for JEA (Murphy Pipe) replaced a portion of the sanitary sewer main line located on 61st Street West to the intersection of Pearl Street North. This sewer line had reached the end of its useful service life and was proactively replaced to ensure the reliability of the sewer system. Failures to sewer lines can potentially cause major sewer back-ups and environmental harm.

This project was completed using the pipe bursting method of construction. This method is less disruptive to neighborhoods than the traditional open-cut method of replacing sewer lines and the overall project duration is typically shorter. Construction Conditions

Construction will primarily occur in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads, and easements.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area typically begins within 2-3 weeks after the sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
