Altama and Mandalay Road Sewer Improvement Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2014-02-24
Anticipated End Date: 2014-05-30
This project has been completed. Below is the information that was provided to customers prior to the project start date.

Roads Affected

Altama Road, Mandalay Road

Project Objective

JEA crews will be replacing a 300 foot section of a failing sanitary sewer main and installing 2 sewer manholes on Altama Road and Mandalay Road.

Crews will first replace the existing manhole located at the intersection of Altama Road and Mandalay Road. The pipe will then be installed moving south on Mandalay Road (toward the Holiday Hills Baptist Church) 300 feet where a new sewer manhole will be constructed. There are no planned water outages as a result of this project.

Construction Conditions

Construction will primarily occur in the City of Jacksonville rights of way, roads and easements. There will be times when roads and intersections will have limited access during (lane closures) while the sewer main and manholes are installed, but the flow of traffic will be maintained.

This construction will require the removal of ground water with a pump system prior to the installation of any pipe or road closures. These pumps are required to run 24 hours a day until the project is completed.

Sections of driveways may need to be removed and replaced to install the pipe. Residents and businesses affected will be notified in advance by crews to allow for removal of vehicles prior to driveway construction.

Residents or businesses that reside within the project boundaries will be provided access and are permitted to drive (with caution) within the construction area. There will be limited access to the areas around the immediate construction area. Please observe all construction signs, detours, and general directions provided by the JEA crews working onsite. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and any delays caused by this work.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the new sewer main and manholes have been installed and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
