Project Objective

JEA  completed a project to upgrade and replacing some of the existing electric transmission and distribution poles that serve the area. The work included the replacement of approximately one (1) mile of existing 230kV single circuit transmission line and installation of a new underbuilt 26.4kV distribution circuit inside the existing JEA transmission line right of way, beginning at the JEA Bartram Electric Substation located just off Racetrack Road and ending just north of Bartram Park Boulevard (see map below). Construction also included tree trimming on the existing JEA right-of-way and easements.

This project was needed in order to accommodate a new distribution circuit which will allow JEA to continue to reliably serve the nearby Bartram Park and Bartram Springs communities, and to serve the projected electric load increases resulting from the many current and future development projects in this fast growing area of our service territory. The project also provides increased electric reliability by replacing large portions of the older 230kV transmission circuit which had reached the end of its useful life.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project begins after the new electric line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
