Roads Affected

Bluewater Drive

Project Objective

JEA crews recently repaired a failing sanitary sewer manhole located on Bluewater Drive at Portsmouth Bay Avenue. Following this project, JEA began proactively investigating other sanitary sewer manholes within the Coastal Oaks subdivision.  We have discovered another manhole on Bluewater Drive, about 400 feet west of Portsmouth Bay Avenue in need of repair.  We will continue to investigate the other manholes in the subdivision to determine if repair or replacement is needed.

Construction Conditions

Construction will occur in the City’s streets, rights of way and easements. Detour signs and barricades will be posted to guide vehicles around the construction area. JEA will be required to bypass the sewer flow around the failing manhole with pumps that will be required to run 24 hours a day until the work is completed.

Installation of Temporary Road

Due to the subdivision only having one entrance and exit, JEA will be required to build a temporary road around the work area. This road will be installed in the City right-of-way along both sides of Bluewater Drive.

The temporary road will be very narrow and bumpy so drivers will need to drive slowly (with caution) through the detour. Please plan ahead for traffic delays. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and continued understanding.

Restoration of Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the sewer manhole has been repaired and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, trees, grass, curb, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
