Project Objective
JEA recently completed the first phase of a project to construct a new sanitary sewer booster station adjacent to the original master pump station located at 10477 Bradley Road. The equipment at the original master pump station had reached the end of its useful service life and needed to be replaced. The treatment process at the facility was improved by adding new process equipment, upgrading the pump station building, and repurposing the existing equipment to update the facility, which will improve its reliability, production capacity and reduce odors.
Some of the improvements to the station included:
- Installation of new equipment to increase water treatment output, including headworks, bioreactors, clarifiers, expansion of the existing filters and ultraviolet disinfection, solids dewatering facility, reclaimed water storage tank and chemical systems
- Replacement of all necessary valving and piping
- Upgrading the electrical components of the plant
- Installation of an emergency generator to help reduce or eliminate the occurrence of future sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs)
- Installation of a new communications system to monitor the equipment and generator function
- Installation of a new, modern, odor control system to reduce odors from the facility
Estimated
Completion Date: May 2022*
*Completion date is
subject to change.
The next phase of the project will include demolition of the existing pump station, landscaping and paving. Please note, there will be increased noise associated during the demolition phase of the facility.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this important infrastructure improvement project.
Construction Conditions
Construction will take place in the City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements. This project will not impact your JEA electric, water and/or sewer service.
Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin after the construction at the booster station has been completed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
