Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (S.P.E. Utility Contractors) completed a project to relocate several of the power poles in the Hancock Road area. This pole relocation project was completed at the request of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in preparation for a future road widening project on I-10.
The new poles were installed approximately 3-6 feet towards Hancock Road and remain within the City of Jacksonville and FDOT roadway clearances along Hancock Road. This pole relocation project will allow JEA to maintain proper height clearances on our power lines prior to the installation of a new FDOT sound barrier wall along I-10.
AT&T and Comcast will return to relocate their services from the old poles to the new poles. Following this work, JEA will return to remove the old poles. Please see the work area map below.
For questions or concerns about the future road widening project, please contact the FDOT at (800) 207-8236. For questions or concerns about the pole relocation portion of the project, please contact JEA Project Outreach at (904) 665-7500 or projectoutreach@jea.com.
Construction Areas
JEA primarily worked within the rights-of-way and easements along Hancock Road.
