Project Objective

Crews have completed the project to replace a portion of the aging sanitary sewer infrastructure that serves your neighborhood. These pipes had reached the end of their service lives and needed to be proactively replaced to increase the reliability of the sewer system and to prevent any future sewer main breaks.

This project involved the replacement of 6,400 linear feet of the existing 30-inch sanitary sewer force main along Huff-man Boulevard from Tulip Circle North through the JEA transmission line easement near I-295 to Saints Road connecting to existing pipe located at St. Johns Bluff Road. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized sewer pipes used to transport sewage to JEA wastewater treatment plants.

Construction Conditions

Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville and Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) rights of way, roads and easements. The contractor was required to temporarily close portions of roads to thru-traffic to complete the installation of the new sewer force main. These closures were necessary for the both the safety of the workers and the general public.

Residents who reside within the project boundaries were provided access to their homes and are permitted to drive (with caution) within the construction area.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the new sewer force main has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
