This project has been completed. Below is the information provided to nearby customers.

Project Objective

The purpose of this project was to replace a portion of the aging sanitary sewer infrastructure along Main Street (US-17) from Sara Drive to an existing sewer main located at the west end of Noah Road. These pipes reached the end of their service lives and needed to be proactively replaced to increase the reliability of the sewer system and prevent any future sewer main breaks.

This work included the installation of approximately 3,300 linear feet of sanitary sewer force main. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized sewer pipes used to transport sewage to JEA wastewater treatment plants.

Construction Conditions

Construction primarily occured in JEA, City of Jacksonville and Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) rights of way, roads and easements. The contractor was required to temporarily close and detour some roads to complete the installation of the new sewer force main. These closures were necessary for the both the safety of the workers and the general public. JEA was required to install the new pipe under the CSX railway tracks located on Main Street (US-17) near Eastport Road using the “jack and bore” method of construction.
