Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2017-03-27
Anticipated End Date: 2017-06-30

This project has been completed. Below is the information provided to customers prior to the project start date.

Project Objective

The purpose of this project is to replace a portion of the aging sanitary sewer infrastructure that serves the neighborhood. These pipes have reached the end of their service lives and need to be proactively replaced to increase the reliability of the sewer system and to prevent any future sewer main breaks.

This work will include the replacement of 2,600 linear feet of the existing 20-inch sanitary sewer force main along Memorial Park Road from Lenox Avenue to Old Middleburg Road. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized sewer pipes used to transport sewage to JEA wastewater treatment plants.

Construction Conditions and Detour

Construction will primarily occur in the City of Jacksonville and Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) rights of way, roads and easements. The contractor will be required to temporarily close and detour thru-traffic to complete the installation of the new sewer force main. These closures are necessary for the both the safety of the workers and the general public. The construction is being completed at night to avoid high traffic periods along Memorial Park Road and possible interruptions to daytime funeral services at the Riverside Memorial Park cemetery. Construction will start on from Old Middleburg Road and work north to Lenox Avenue:

  • Northbound Memorial Park Road Detour: Memorial Park Road to Old Middleburg Road North to Lenox Avenue and back to Memorial Park Road
  • Southbound Memorial Park Detour: Memorial Park Road to Lenox Avenue to Old Middleburg Road to Memorial Park Road

Restoration of Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the new sewer force main has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
