Monterey Water Treatment Facility Rehabilitation Project

This project has been completed. The below information was provided to area residents. 

A contractor working for JEA completed a routine inspection, cleaning and maintenance at our Monterey Water Treatment Facility located at 5802 Harris Avenue.  

Part of this work included the inspection and cleaning of an onsite water discharge tank that temporarily holds highly treated water prior to being gradually pumped out to the St. Johns River through an outfall pipe. While the tank was being cleaned, residents possibly noticed water temporarily exiting the outfall pipe breaking the surface of the water (approximately 100 feet off shore) after each treatment cycle.
