Nassau - Amelia Concourse Water Improvement Project

Project Objective

JEA and our contractor, Williams Industrial Services Group LLC, completed an important project to install infrastructure project to better connect the Nassau Regional Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to the Nassau grid which will help sustain water distribution system pressure during peak demand season.

The scope of this project included the construction of approximately 1,400 Linear Feet (LF) of 24-inch water main from Nassau Regional WTP to an existing 16-inch water main located near the intersection of Piedmont Drive and Amelia Concourse.

The project also included construction of approximately 240 LF of 12-inch raw water main on the Nassau Regional WTP site, as well as a new backup well and approximately 2,500 LF of 12-inch raw water main from the new well site crossing Amelia Concourse near the Journey Church to provide water to the Nassau Regional WTP.

      Piedmont Drive in Lofton Pointe

During the project, periodic temporary road closures and detours were required for both the safety of our crews and the general public. Motorists were permitted to drive (with caution) through the construction area during pipe installation.

A segment of Piedmont Drive from the entrance to JEA’s Nassau Regional WTP located at 96362 Piedmont Drive through the roundabout to Amelia Concourse was temporarily closed to thru traffic and local traffic detoured out of the neighborhood (see the work area and detour map below).

Construction Conditions & Temporary Amelia Concourse Lane Closures

Construction occurred in the County’s streets, rights of way and easements. Motorists were permitted to drive (with caution) through the construction area during pipe installation.

JEA was also required to cross Amelia Concourse with the new water main from near the entrance to The Journey Church (95707 Amelia Concourse) across Amelia Concourse to near the Step by Step Learning Center (95734 Amelia Concourse). Crews maintained access to both The Journey Church, Step by Step Learning Center and businesses located along Amelia Concourse.

JEA notified area residents and vehicular traffic of the required temporary evening lane closures using electronic message boards. The contractor crews maintained traffic in both directions during the evening work. Traffic lanes were shifted and reduced to one lane in each direction. See below map for details.
