Project Objective

JEA crews replaced a portion of failing sanitary sewer main line on Oak Street from Pinegrove Avenue to the dead end of Oak Street. This project will increase the reliability of the sewer system and help prevent future sewer main breaks. Failures to sewer lines can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.

Construction Conditions

Construction occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements. For the safety of our crews and the general public, we were required to temporarily close Oak Street from Pinegrove Avenue to the dead end of Oak Street while the line is being installed. Customers were permitted to drive (with caution) within work area (please see work area map below).

However, due to this portion of Oak Street being a dead end road and the required depth of the sanitary sewer, there were times when driveways are inaccessible during the work day. JEA crew members attempted to notify residents prior to any temporary driveway closures.

Due to this being an active construction site, the Oak Street (near Pine Grove) entrance to Boone Park was also temporarily closed to pedestrian traffic.  Oak Street SIP Map

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area typically begins about 2-3 weeks after the sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
