Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2018-12-15
Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The contractor will be required to work 24 hours a day on 11/13 and 11/14.
Project Objective
JEA has completed the upgrades to the sanitary sewer infrastructure on Olive Street from Palmer Terrace to Tiber Avenue and Palmer Terrace from Olive Street to Call Street. Once the new line has been inspected and cleared for use, crews will begin the process of flushing and removing the sewer bypass system followed by removal of the bypass lines to allow access to driveways.
The purpose of this project was to replace a portion of the aging sanitary sewer infrastructure that serves the neighborhood. The existing sewer pipes had reached the end of their service lives and needed to be proactively replaced to increase the reliability of the sewer system and to prevent future sewer main breaks.
JEA upgraded the existing sanitary sewer line on Olive Street from Palmer Terrace to Tiber Avenue and Palmer Terrace from Olive Street to Call Street. Contractor crews from Insituform Technologies LLC completed the work using a trenchless lining technology that allows for the rehabilitation of the existing pipe with minimal disruption to the community. This technology also greatly reduces the amount of time it would take to complete a similar project using traditional construction methods.
In order to complete the lining process, JEA had to remove the contents of the pipe (sewage) while the old pipe was being cleaned and the new pipe lining was installed. To do this, JEA was required to install a temporary, above ground by-pass piping system to divert the gravity sewer during the lining process. This activity resulted in the need to temporarily block access to driveways for several days.

Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin after the new sewer force main has been installed, tested and cleared for use (after the Thanksgiving holidays). Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
