Roads Affected

Oak Street, Riverside Avenue, Van Wert Avenue

Project Objective

JEA contractor (Callaway Contracting) completed a project to abandon in place an old sanitary sewer line no longer in service on Riverside Avenue from Van Wert Avenue to Oak Street. This work was necessary to ensure that the newly abandoned pipe will not collapse under the pavement, possibly causing future voids or potholes in the road.

Construction Conditions

To complete this work, the contractor may be required to excavate the road every 400-500 feet to pump cement grout into the old sewer line and asphalt patch the roadway. Vehicular traffic along Riverside Avenue may be detoured around each block while the contractor is working in that area. This work will not impact your normal water or sewer service.

Residents and businesses who reside within the project boundaries will be provided access to their homes and are permitted to drive (with caution) within the construction area. There will be times during the day when customers may have limited access when the contractor is working directly in front of homes or businesses.

Restoration of Project Area

Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
