Robena Road Sewer Booster Station Project

Project Objective

A contractor working for JEA constructed a new sanitary sewer booster station located at 3742 Robena Road. This station improves sewer system reliability and allows for continued growth in the area.

Construction included the installation of new booster pumps, diesel back-up pump, generator, yard piping, and a concrete building to house the control and electrical equipment. The station site included an on-site drainage detention pond which met all City of Jacksonville and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) requirements and standards.

Sewer booster pump stations are designed to boost the pressure of wastewater within a pipeline along to nearby sewer force mains, which are then transported to sewer treatment facilities. These stations are often used to bypass or replace existing sewer pump stations. Booster stations are part of a closed piping system and do not cause or create odors.

PROJECT DATES:

Start Date: December 2021

Completion Date: November 2022

    Construction Conditions

Construction took place on JEA property and in the City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements. JEA was required to clear the lot of trees and vegetation prior to building the new station.  The contractor was at times required to close one lane of traffic near the work site. This work did not impact normal JEA electric, water, and/or sewer service.

    Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area began after the construction at the booster station was completed, tested, and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction were returned to its pre-construction condition. JEA installed a new driveway, fencing, grass, and landscaping around the station during the completion of the project.
