Sanitary Sewer Cleaning Projects

Project Objective

JEA crews are continually working throughout our service territory to perform regular preventative maintenance on the existing sanitary sewer lines that serves your home or business.

During this work, crews will be proactively cleaning and/or televising the existing sewer line to evaluate the pipe’s current condition. Any potential problems found during this investigative work will be turned over to our maintenance crews to be repaired in the future.

Project Conditions

Occasionally the cleaning process can cause very low levels of pressurized air to form ahead of the sprayer used to clean the sewer lines. It is possible for this air to find its way up your individual sewer service line to the bathrooms in your home.

Under most circumstances, the air will evacuate safely out of your plumbing vent (usually located on top of your roof). You may detect an odor inside your home if plumbing (toilets, sinks, bathtubs, etc.) is not properly sealed, if there is no water in your plumbing drains (aka p-traps) or if your plumbing vent is clogged. The cleaning could also cause a slight bubbling in your toilets and as a general precaution, we advise our customers to keep toilet lids closed for the next few days to prevent minor
