Spurline - Windtree Sewer Improvement Project

Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Callaway Contracting, Inc.) replaced a portion of the aging sanitary sewer infrastructure that serves the area. These pipes had reached the end of their service lives and needed to be proactively replaced to increase the reliability of the sewer system and to prevent any future sewer main breaks.
This work included the replacement of the existing 8-inch sanitary sewer gravity main in the rear easement between Windtree Drive South and Spurline Drive South.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville rights of way, roads and easements. Residents who resided within the project boundaries were provided access to their homes/driveways and were permitted to drive (with caution) within the construction area (see map below). Several large trees were removed and fences temporarily relocated within the project limits to install the new sewer line. These individual customers were contacted by JEA in person.
A bypass pump system was set-up so that we were able to continue to provide sewer service until the pipe could be replaced.
Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin after the new sewer main has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
