Project Objective

JEA crews will be replacing a portion of sanitary sewer force main along Van Gundy Road from Champlain Road to Winton Drive. This project is the second phase of project to replace the sewer force main along Restlawn Drive which had reached the end of its service life. Force mains are pressurized pipes used to transport sewage to wastewater treatment plants.

Conditions During Construction

Construction will occur in the City’s streets, rights-of-way and easements.
The crew will be required to block one traffic lane during the drilling process.  Every effort will be made to ensure the flow of traffic is properly maintained.  Detour signs will be posted to guide vehicles around the construction area.  For the safety of our crews and the general public, please observe all construction signs, detours and general directions provided by the crew.

The new sewer line will be installed using the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method of construction which will require very little excavation work and be less disruptive to the surrounding community.

Restoration of Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the force main  has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
