Project Objective

In the next few weeks, a contractor working for JEA (Callaway Construction, Inc.) will begin construction to install a new potable water line along Yellow Bluff Road. This project is necessary to loop the existing water system for reliability purposes, to add fire protection and to plan for future growth in this area.

The contractor will install a new water line along the City right-of-way and easements on Yellow Bluff Road from Marshland Drive to Tisons Bluff Road. The work will also include the installation of 32 new fire hydrants. We anticipate that construction activities will start around the week of August 28, 2017 with an estimated completion date of summer 2018. The contractor will primarily work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Construction Conditions

Construction will occur in the City’s rights of way and easements. There will be times when roads and driveways may have limited access along Yellow Bluff Road while the contractor is installing the water line. For the safety of our crews and the general public, please observe all posted detour signs and directions provided by the crew. Please plan ahead for traffic delays. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin once the water line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curbs, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.

Connecting to the JEA Water Line

Property owners located within the project limits that are interested in obtaining JEA water service will be responsible for paying all JEA connection fees, on-site plumbing costs and obtaining associated permits required to make the connection from your home to JEA’s water line located in the right-of-way.

JEA will install a new tap, individual water service  and meter once connection fees are paid. More information will be provided by JEA to eligible property owners once the water line has been installed, tested, and cleared for use.
