Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (TB Landmark Construction, Inc.) replaced a sanitary sewer manhole at the intersection of Yacht Club Road and Prince Edward Road, and the sanitary sewer force main on Yacht Club Road from Prince Edward Road (under the canal) to the existing pump station located off Long Bow Road.
This sewer force main and manhole had reached the end of their useful service lives and was replaced to ensure the reliability of the sewer system that serves your neighborhood. Failures to sewer mains and manholes can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements. The sewer force main was installed with a technique called Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). HDD requires very little excavation, reduces construction duration, and is less disruptive to the surrounding community. The new line will be drilled 10-feet below the current channel bottom, which is approximately 21-feet deep.

Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the new sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction was returned to its pre-construction condition.
