JEA's mission is to "Improve Lives. Building Community to be the best utility in the nation".
Each year, JEA proudly hosts a variety of internship and mentoring programs with college students and partnered high schools. These programs provide hands-on experience for students already enrolled in degree and technical programs in their chosen field.
Our interns and mentoring students work directly with JEA employees trained to guide them through the work environment, while also teaching them about the utility industry. Students often get the chance to help complete special projects while working side-by-side with our employees.
To support the mission of the organization a community service project is a requirement for every intern class. While leadership provides guidelines, the decision is left to the Interns on what community service project they choose to support. Participating in a community project allows the interns to come together as a team in an effort to enhance their collaboration and organization skills, while providing an opportunity to understand JEA’s culture of building community.
About our Internship Program
JEA selects college students to participate each summer in a paid 32-hour-per-week, 12-week immersion program. The program offers students opportunities to gain real-world, on-the-job experiences, earn a competitive salary, network with business professionals, get involved in the community, and develop valuable leadership, professional etiquette and presentation skills.
