San Jose Boulevard (SR-13) Water Improvement Project

JEA has contracted JB Coxwell Contracting, Inc. to replace the existing 24-inch water main along San Jose Boulevard, between Old River Road and Claire Lane. This project follows an emergency repair completed in the summer of 2024, which addressed a break in the water main.

After further evaluation, JEA has determined that a full replacement of the pipe is required to maintain the reliability of the water system and to prevent future outages and traffic disruptions. Following the installation of the new pipe, JEA will grout fill the old line to prevent any future voids under the pavement.

Work will primarily occur in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements. 

To ensure the safety of both workers and the public, one traffic lane in each direction on San Jose Boulevard may be closed nightly between I-295 and Ricky Road during construction (see times below). The median and turn lanes within the work zone will be closed for the duration of the project. The contractor will also work during the day behind the installed barrier wall. 

Drivers are encouraged to plan for potential delays and consider alternate routes, such as I-295, when possible. Speed limits in the area will be reduced to 35 mph. Please refer to the map below for details on the work zone and detour routes.

LANE CLOSURE HOURS (NIGHTLY AS REQUIRED): 
8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (1 northbound lane closed)*
9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. (1 southbound lane closed)*

*Times are highly subject to change. Extended (24-7) or weekend work hours may be required to expedite the project and minimize impact to the public.
