JEA Board Approves Rate Adjustments

2025-03-25

Jacksonville, FL - The JEA board of directors on Tuesday approved incremental adjustments to electric, water and sewer rates.

The rate changes will allow JEA to continue investing in sustainability, new technologies and infrastructure while keeping rates among the lowest in the state. JEA also is making significant investments in upgrading plants and facilities to meet state and federal regulations and better serve customers.

On average, residential customers will see a 3.7 percent increase in their overall utility bill starting April 1, assuming their consumption stays the same as in 2024. The board also approved rate adjustments for fiscal year 2026. Starting Oct. 1, residential customers will see a 5.1 percent increase in their overall utility bill when using 1,000 kilowatt hours of energy and 6,000 gallons of water a month.

Residential customers can use a bill estimator on jea.com to assess upcoming changes in their bill.

JEA has worked hard to minimize impacts on customers. Even with increases, JEA expects to continue to offer the lowest overall utility costs among major cities across Florida.

The rate adjustments include a new tiered structure for electric rates that offer an opportunity to keep electricity bills more affordable for customers who consume less electricity.

JEA is committed to offering solutions to help all of our customers, including:

  • Offering free on-site energy audits for homes and businesses.
  • Relaxing eligibility criteria for payment arrangements and extensions.
  • Working with local nonprofits that provide utility bill assistance.

  • Offering residential and commercial efficiency rebate programs that help save money on the upfront costs of energy- and water-efficient appliances and equipment.
