20th Street Water Main Improvement Project
Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2017-04-30
This project has been completed. Below is the information provided to customers prior to the project start date..
Roads Affected
20th Street, 21st Street, Barnett Street, Wilson Street, Witschen Avenue
Project Objective
JEA will be replacing and upgrading a portion of the existing water main on Witschen Avenue from 21st Street to 20th Street and on 20th Street from Wilson Street to Barnett Street. Once completed, this project will increase water pressure and provide improved system reliability.
Conditions During Construction
While you will see crews working in the area by the anticipated start date above, the majority of the construction will not take place until after the holidays. Construction will occur in the City’s rights of way and easements.
The intersection of Witschen Avenue and 20th Street will be temporarily closed during the day while we install a new water tap. Detour signs and barricades will be in place to guide motorists around the construction area.
Water Outages
Some customers will experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Residents may also experience a brief (10 to 15 minutes) outage while crews transfer your home from the old water service to the new water service.
Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin once the water lines are installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
