Project Objective
JEA will be installing a new water main along Astral Street from Lake Shore Boulevard to Burns Avenue. The new water main will be located in the city right-of-way and will replace the existing main which is currently located in a rear easement behind homes located on Astral Street.
Once the water line is installed, certified plumbers hired by JEA will disconnect customers from the old water main and connect them to the new water line. This involves re-plumbing the outside portion of the each customer’s private plumbing from the house to the right of way.
When completed, this new main will provide for better water pressure and reliability.

Construction Conditions
Construction will be done in the City’s rights of way and easements. There will be times when your road will have limited access while the water main is being installed. JEA will maintain the flow of traffic, although residents may experience some minor delays.
Water Outages
Some customers will experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Residents may also experience a brief (10 to 15 minutes) outage while crews transfer your home from the old water service to the new water service.
Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin once the water lines are installed and have been tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
