Project Objective

JEA crews replaced a sanitary sewer manhole that has reached the end of its service life at the intersection of Barnett Street and 15th Street West.  Failures to sewer manholes can potentially cause major sewer back-ups and roadway issues.

For the safety of our crew, this work required the removal of ground water with pump systems prior to construction. These pump systems operated continuously during the repairs.

Construction Conditions

Construction occurred in the City’s streets, rights of way and easements.  For the safety of our crews and the general public, the intersection of Barnett Street and 15th Street West was closed and traffic detoured.

Restoration of Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the sewer manhole has been replaced, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
