Bernita Street Water and Sewer Improvement Project
Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2020-01-05
Regular work hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note: Night & weekend work may be required
Project Objective
JEA has recently completed a project to replace 2,000 feet of water main and 2,800 feet of sanitary sewer force main from JEA’s existing Monterey Water Reclamation Facility located at 5802 Harris Avenue along Bernita Street to just past the intersection
of Macy Avenue. These pipes had reached the end of their useful service lives and required replacement.
JEA also upgraded the size of these lines to handle additional flow. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized sewer pipes used to transport
sewage to JEA wastewater treatment plants. This project will provide improved water pressure, increase system reliability and supply fire flow protection with additional fire hydrants.
Construction Conditions
Construction occurred in the City of Jacksonville streets, rights of way and easements.
