This project has been completed. Below is the information that was provided to customers prior to the project start date.
Roads Affected
Carder Street, Cassat Avenue, Dancy Street, Denaud Street, Hamilton Street, Kingsbury Street, Plymouth Street
Project Objective
The purpose of this project is to replace the aging water and sewer infrastructure that serves the area. These pipes have reached the end of their service lives and need to be proactively replaced to prevent any future main breaks or possible water outages. This work will include the replacement of an existing sanitary sewer force main and upgrading some of the potable water mains in the area. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized pipes used to transport sewage to wastewater treatment plants. The sewer force main will be replaced starting at the intersection of Carder Street and Denaud Street and continue north along Denaud Street then west along Kingsbury Street where the main will cross Cassat Avenue and connect into an existing force main which was installed during a previous project. The pipe work will pick-up on Kingsbury Street near Hamilton Street and connect near the JEA Kingsbury master pump station (4140 Kingsbury Street). The water main will be replaced and upgraded to a larger size on Denaud Street from Carder Street to Plymouth Street, Kingsbury Street from Denaud Street to Cassat Avenue, Kingsbury Street from Hamilton Street to Dancy Street.
Construction Areas
Construction will be primarily occur in the City of Jacksonville and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) rights of way, roads and easements. There will be times when roads will have limited access while the mains are installed but the flow of traffic will be maintained by the contractor. Sections of driveways will be removed and replaced to install the pipe. Residents affected will be notified in advance by crews to allow for removal of vehicles prior to driveway construction.
Planned Water Outages
Some customers may experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Residents that reside along the construction route may also experience a brief (10 to 15 minutes) outage while crews transfer your home from the old water service to the new water service.
Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin after the new water main and force main have been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
