Cassat Avenue - Road Closure Information

A contractor (Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc.) working for JEA will be required to close the north and south bound lanes of Cassat Avenue from Post Street to Plymouth Street to complete the installation of a new water main and sewer force main across Cassat Avenue at Kingsbury Street as a part of the Carder Street Water and Sewer Improvement Project.

Construction will occur on seven (7) consecutive weekends beginning on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 7:00pm and is estimated to be completed no later than Monday, March 10, 2014 at 6:00am. Cassat Avenue will be temporarily restored and opened to vehicular traffic each Monday morning at 6am following the weekend work.

Detour signs will be set to guide drivers around the construction area. Business and resident access will be maintained within the “local traffic only” work zone.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) will provide staffing and traffic control assistance for the duration of the road closure. Electronic message signs are posted 7 days prior to each closure notifying area commuters and residents of road closures. All Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have been notified of the closure.
