Cassat Avenue Sewer Improvement Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2021-03-30
Anticipated End Date: 2021-04-30

Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.*

NOTE: In some circumstances, evenings and weekend hours may be required.

Project Objective

JEA crews replaced a portion of failing sanitary sewer main at the intersection of Cassat Avenue and Shirley Avenue, and on Shirley Avenue between Cassat Avenue and Vista Avenue. This repair was necessary to ensure the reliability of the sewer system that serves the area. Failures to sewer mains can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.

Construction Conditions

For the safety of our crews and the general public, we will be required to temporarily close the right southbound lane of Cassat Avenue approaching Shirley Avenue and Shirley Avenue from Cassat Avenue to Vista Avenue to complete this work. Please see the work area map below.

Construction will primarily occur in the City of Jacksonville rights of way, roads and easements. This work will require the removal of ground water with pump systems prior to construction, and pumps to temporarily by-pass the sewage during construction. These pump systems will operate continuously during the repairs.

Please observe all construction signs, detours, and general directions provided by the crews working on-site. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this construction work.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the manhole has been replaced, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
