Cates Avenue Electric Improvement Project
Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2022-03-07
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.*
*In some circumstances, extended hours and weekends may be required.
Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Heart Utilities, Inc.) installed new protective conduit and electric cables along the utility easement behind homes on Cates Avenue, between Pebble Isle Drive and Harbor Point Circle.
The contractor installed the new conduit with a technique called horizontal directional drilling (HDD). HDD requires very little excavation, reduces construction duration, and is less disruptive to the surrounding community. This project will help to proactively improve the overall quality and reliability of your electric service.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville rights of way, roads and easements. See the work area map below.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area began soon after the project had been completed. Any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction was returned to its pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
