Project Objective
A contractor (United Brothers Development) working for JEA will be installing a new 20-inch sanitary sewer Force Main on Clark Road from the intersection of Gun Club Road and Busch Drive north to Whitaker Road. Construction activities will start at Whitaker Road and work towards Gun Club Road. Force Mains are pressurized pipes used to transport sewage to wastewater treatment plants. This project is designed to replace aging sewer infrastructure and to provide additional sewer capacity for current and future growth in the area.
Construction Conditions
The new force main will be installed primarily by the traditional open cut method of construction within the City of Jacksonville's road right of way (ROW) and existing utility easements. The contractor will install the pipe under the CSX railroad tracks using a construction method called a jack and bore. This method allows JEA to install the pipe under the railroad tracks without any disruption to the train tracks or rail service.
Restoration of the Project Area:
Restoration of the project area will begin after the force main has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
