Project Objective
JEA completed the third phase of a project to upgrade some of the electrical equipment that serves the Cobblestone neighborhood. A contractor working for JEA (Heart Utilities, Inc.) installed new protective conduit and electric cables within the community.
The contractor installed the new conduit with a technique called horizontal directional drilling (HDD). HDD requires very little excavation, reduces construction duration, and is less disruptive to the surrounding community. This project will help to proactively improve the overall quality and reliability of your electric service.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville rights of way, roads and easements.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 after the new electric conduit has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
