Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Callaway Contracting, Inc.) has completed construction to replace a failing sanitary sewer force main located along the utility easement between I-295 and English Oak Drive South. Failures to sewer lines can potentially cause sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the utility easement located behind the homes on English Oak Drive South and in the City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads and easements. In order to complete this work, JEA’s contractor was required to temporarily remove backyard fences that had been installed within the 28-foot utility easement between I-295 and English Oaks Drive South. JEA also installed a temporary above ground by-pass pipe along the easement to keep the existing sewer line in service during the construction.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin after the sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, concrete (sidewalks & driveways), grass, landscaping, or irrigation impacted during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition. Fences will be reinstalled or replaced by the contractor following the work.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
