Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2019-06-20
Note: Start and completion dates are highly subject to change.
Roads Affected
Cherokee Street, Edison Avenue
Project Objective
FDOT work to replace the existing Edison Avenue Bridge with a new bridge that features two twelve-foot travel lanes for vehicles, five-foot wide shoulders and a five-foot sidewalk on the north side of the bridge. During construction, a temporary bridge will be installed on the north side of the existing bridge to safely maintain vehicle and pedestrian traffic with little interruption. Upon completion, this project will provide much needed capacity improvements and improve traffic conditions through the roadway corridor.
JEA Infrastructure Improvements
In an effort to resolve the conflicts between JEA’s existing utilities and the proposed roadway improvements, the utility reconstruction work will be performed by the Florida Department of Transporation’s Design/Build firm via the terms of our existing Inter-Local Agreement. JEA will also be adding new water and sewer force mains within the project limits to improve the reliability of the systems.
