Project Objective
As part of the Galvanized Pipe Replacement Program to modernize more than 200 miles of JEA’s existing potable water distribution system, a contractor working for JEA (Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc.) replaced and upgraded portions of the water lines on Forest Street from Stockton Street to Acosta Street, Calvin Street from Acosta Street to Nixon Street, Hiland Street from Stockton Street to the dead end, Orion Street from Stockton Street to Nixon Street, and Biggs Street from Edison Avenue to Orion Street. By replacing these existing galvanized water mains, customers will experience improved water pressure and increased overall system reliability.
This project also included the installation of three (3) new fire hydrants. This project will provide increased water pressure, enhanced fire protection and improved system reliability.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the water main has been replaced, tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
