Project Objective

A contractor working for JEA (Callaway Contracting, Inc.) has completed a project to install 8,475 linear feet of reclaimed (re-use) water main and reclaim individual services along Gate Parkway from Deerwood Park Boulevard to just south of Burnt Mill Road. This project will provide reclaimed water to existing JEA customers who currently use potable (drinking) water for irrigation purposes. New reclaim water services were installed along the Gate Parkway corridor to accommodate future growth in the area. Customers that have been irrigating with potable water will be able to convert their potable water services over to the new reclaim water line.

This project will also create a connecting “loop system” with the existing 20-inch reclaimed transmission main which will provide for improved system reliability and increased water pressure to the area. JEA’s reuse (reclaimed) water system expansion provides a dual benefit by reducing discharge to the St. Johns River while offsetting additional groundwater aquifer withdrawals and  saving precious potable water for drinking and personal use.

Construction Conditions

Construction occurred in the City’s streets, rights-of-way and easements. The new reclaim main was installed within the outside travel lane along Gate Parkway.
