Gate Parkway Reclaimed Water Extension Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2018-03-08
Anticipated End Date: 2018-07-31

Regular work hours: Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Note: The City of Jacksonville is requiring JEA’s contractor to work in the evening hours to avoid closing traffic lanes along the busy Gate Parkway - Town Center corridor during the daytime hours when the road is utilized the most. Completion dates are subject to change. Some daytime and weekend hours will be necessary.

Project Objective

JEA completed installation of a new 8-inch reclaimed water main along Gate Parkway from Shiloh Mill Boulevard to Town Center Parkway. When completed, this main will provide reclaimed water for irrigation purposes at the newly constructed The Crossing and The Strand at Town Center. JEA’s reuse (reclaimed) water system expansion provides a dual benefit by reducing discharge to the River while offsetting additional groundwater withdrawals and saving precious potable water for drinking and personal use.

Construction Conditions

Construction will occur in the City’s streets, rights of way and easements. Motorists will be permitted to drive (with caution) through the construction area during pipe installation. The Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office will be assisting with traffic control throughout the project. For safety of  the crew, please DRIVE SLOWLY.

The contractor will be required to temporarily close one lane of traffic along the shoulder of the road while working in the immediate area to install the new pipe. Please plan ahead as this may cause traffic delays.

JEA’s contractor will be required to install the new pipe across the entrances and exits to both the Old  Mill Branch Subdivision and Arium Town Center Apartment Complex. The contractor will continue to maintain access, but will be required to temporarily block a portion of the entrance or exit. Please pay attention to all signage and crew instructions. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Restoration of Project Area & Paving - UPDATE

During the construction period, the contractor will place temporary asphalt on the roadway each day after work has been completed. We realize that the roadway may be a little bumpy during this time and we apologize for the inconvenience. Final paving of the roadway cannot occur until the pipe has been completely installed, tested and cleared for use (June 2018). Any existing grass, curb, gutter, driveways, or sidewalk affected during construction will also be restored to pre-construction conditions.

Paving Update

Permanent paving of the area is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 14, 2018 (weather permitting).
